GVSU got a power play opportunity to begin the second quarter, and Maggie Hammer took advantage of that and scored to put the Lakers up by five. After the Falcons got one back, DeYoung scored her first of the game, as GVSU went up 5-1 after the first quarter.
The Lakers opened an early 4-0 lead, behind goals from Molly Bursinger, Ella Boose, off an assist from Kate DeYoung, then Maddy Champagne scored twice in a row. The win extends GVSU's winning streak to four games and improves them to 7-4 this season.
